I am writing this blog today while numerous aspiring young golf professionals are touring the golf course preparing for the Golden State Tour Event that will take place over the next two days. The golf course is in great shape and should present the players with a great test of golf.

The players will have the privilege of playing the hole locations from the 2006 Skins Game on Wednesday.

The Golden State Tour Event will feature 70 golf professionals and top amateurs from around Southern California.

Next week, on Tuesday and Wednesday, Golf Course Superintendent Scott Werline and his staff will be deep tine aerifying the greens on the practice facility and the golf course. The golf course will be open for 9 holes on Tuesday and will be closed all day Wednesday. The golf course will be back open for full operation on Thursday. Reduced rates for Thursday and Friday rounds will be $50.00 through Monday, June 4th. Despite the golf course temporarily closing, the golf shop will be open and the Azul Restaurant will be open for lunch.

Our summer rates will take effect after June 5th. Weekday Peak Rates will be $57.00 and Friday, Saturday, and Sunday rates will be $67.00.

Our Monarch Pass continues to sell very well. For $175.00 you receive a $50.00 golf shop gift certificate, a $25.00 gift certificate to Azul Restaurant, a dozen Precept Golf Balls, and your first round of golf free. The Monarch Pass will allow you to purchase green fees on the weekdays for as low as $30.00 in June, July and August, plus your guests can play for just $45. Weekend rates are $40.00 for Monarch Pass holders and $55.00 for their guests.

Trilogy at La Quinta Homeowners have the option of purchasing the Summer Coupon Program, $750.00 for 20 rounds of golf. One convenience of the Coupon program is that it is transferable, and can be used by your spouse or your guest.

We have just agreed to host two new events this summer promoted to the PGA of America. The PGA McGladrey Team Championship is the PGA of America’s first nationwide grass roots best-ball amateur championship. We will be hosting a local qualifier in late June. The second event is a One Man Scramble; our local qualifier is slated for July 15th, 2007. We will have more details in the golf shop and on our website in the coming weeks explaining these new and exciting events.

Look on our website on Wednesday for some fun and exciting specials this Memorial Day Weekend. I call them “Management is out of town specials.”

"Wait, Brandon is actually taking a day off," you ask? General Manager Brandon O'Neill and First Assistant Professional Nick Mitchell will be heading to Chicago for a golf event. They will be checking out Medinah, host of last year’s PGA Championship, where this blog was first started. For a golf professional, playing golf is all part of the job, not just for recreation. One thing I am sure of is that they will not have to fight the rough that we did last year as I toted Jeff Cranford’s bag around their during the PGA Championship.

There are still 6 days left to get your free 10 minute golf lesson. Call the golf shop and find out how you can get a 10 minute free lesson from a 3 time PGA Section Award winner for teaching.

Until next week keep rolling that rock!

May Update

If this is your first time reading the Trilogy Blog, welcome! If you have been here before, welcome back.

Just a quick reminder that there are only 6 shopping days left until my birthday. As my birthday approaches, it amazes me that I am so old! How old, you ask? That will be the question of the week. I'll be curious to hear your guesses.

We just went through a busy weekend hosting the FBI G-men group. This week there are a few prime times still available for Thursday thru Saturday. We have some great specials and great rates available. If you are a fan of Titleist Pro V’s, we are offering a dozen Pro Vs with every paid Peak Green Fee Round. Check out this offer while supplies last!

Golf Course Superintendent Scott Werline and his assistant Tom Becker are continuing to provide excellent playing conditions in spite of the increase in temperatures.

Our staff has been to quite a few of the golf courses in the area over the past couple of weeks, and we can honestly say that Trilogy Golf Club conditions compare with the best in the valley.

We will be doing golf course maintenance starting Tuesday May 29th. We will deep aerify the greens for two days. The golf course will be open for 9 holes on Tuesday, closed Wednesday, and open to full operation again on Thursday. Please mark your calendars for those dates. It will take the golf course about 7 days to heal. We will have reduced rates from Thursday, May 31st thru June 5th.

On the "Anthony Kim Watch," as of today, Anthony has amassed $1,088,278 in tour earnings this year, and is currently #32 on the PGA Tour Money list. He is currently ranked #86 in the world rankings. He started the year in 400th place. The World Ranking points for each player are accumulated over a two year “rolling” period, with the points awarded for each tournament maintained for a 13-week period to place additional emphasis on recent performances – ranking points are then reduced in equal decrements for the remaining 91 weeks of the two year ranking period. Each player is then ranked according to his average points per tournament, which is determined by dividing his total number of points by the number of tournaments he has played over that two-year period. There is a minimum divisor of 40 tournaments over the two year ranking period.

Upcoming events to keep in mind include our Father’s Day/US Open Event in June and our One Man Scramble Event in July. More details to come.

This month is the Free 10 Minute Lesson month by the PGA. I am available on Tuesday mornings from 9:00am-10:00am, Thursday mornings from 9:00am to 11:00am, and Friday mornings from 9:00am to 10:00am. Check with me in the golf shop or give me a call on my cell at 835-6993. See what 10 Minutes will do for your game!

Until next time keep rolling that rock!

May is Here!

If this is your first time to the Trilogy Golf Club Blog, Welcome! If you are returning, welcome back!

As I write this blog, I am amazed that tomorrow will be the start of what I feel is one of the best months of the year. I am sure there are some puzzled looks in cyberspace as I make that comment. I have my reasons - first, this month holds both my birthday and my wife’s. On top of that, we've now added the Player’s Championship to the calendar, and the basketball and hockey playoffs are in serious stages. And let's not forget that the baseball teams this month are starting to separate themselves from the rest of the division.

"That’s great, Bob," you say - "but what does that have to do with Trilogy Golf Club at La Quinta?"

Well this month we continue to see a busy schedule of events for the facility, with some warm days, but very comfortable nights. Upcoming events include the Bridgestone Golf Ball Challenge on May 6th. There is a sign up sheet in the Golf Shop to reserve a time. Club fitting and ball fitting specialists from Bridgestone will be here on Sunday to help you determine what is the best golf ball for you. They were out a couple of months ago, and it was a great display that helped a lot of people determine the right equipment for their game.

The Ladies 9 Hole Golf Group will host their first-ever Ladies Invitational with Heritage Palms Golf Club. There are 37 ladies slated to play in this event.

This Friday and Saturday we are hosting the Fellowship of Christian Athletes Ryder Cup event. Headlining the event are Jay Schroeder and Michael Chang. The two day event is a large fundraiser for scholarships to FCA summer sports camps this year.

May 11,12,and 13th will see over 300 former and current FBI agents, friends, and family members teeing up at Trilogy. This is the 4th year for their event out here.

Last week was a big week for the facility; group outings included the Ladies Invitational (60 Ladies), The First Annual TradeParnters Appreciation Day Scramble (over 70 players), and the Lumpy’s Scramble for Autism (over 120 players), which raised somewhere in the neighborhood of $70,000 for the Coachella Valley Autism Society.

Those of you who have read the blog before know full well that we are on the "Anthony Kim watch" on the PGA Tour. Anthony secured his PGA Tour Card for 2008 with his 5th place finish two weeks ago. The Byron Nelson saw Anthony off to a great start, easily making the cut and tying for 7th after two days. Saturday was a new experience for Anthony, he had the pleasure (or challenge!) of playing with VJ Singh. His round of 77 showed that he has a lot of growth when it comes to playing with the upper crest of players on the tour. He rebounded and finished with a 67 on the final day.

May is also our "Free Golf Lesson" month. You can sign up in the Golf Shop for a free 10 minute golf lesson with me. Check out the available times I have set up. Find out how I can make your summer of golf that much more enjoyable.

I invite you to constantly check our website for some exciting golf specials this month, and also look for our summer "Frequent Player" card that will be offered by the middle of the month.

Until next week, keep rolling that rock.
