Late August Update

As we entered the last week of August, the greens have healed from last week's maintenance work.

I write this blog waiting up to see the Double Moon and Lunar Eclipse. These things are even more rare than me going under par. It’s always interesting what we will stay up for. In today’s techno world, we will see this display 1,000 times tomorrow on Fox, CBS,NBC and ABC etc. People who didn’t stay up will say they did after seeing the telecast.

Let’s get back to golf...

Weather forecast calls for higher temperatures but lower humidity for the rest of the week. A perfect combination for us in the desert, that humidity thing is fine when it’s in the 80’s, but man when it gets over 100 the humidity you get soaking wet just standing on the putting green.

This Saturday we will celebrate our troops with the Patriot’s Day Fundraiser. To find out more, you can check out our web special, or to donate you can go to http://www.woundedwarriors.org/patriotgolfday.htm. We are one of over 2,000 golf courses that are participating.

On the Anthony Kim watch, Anthony had by my standards a very successful weekend during the first week of the PGA Playoffs. Entering the weekend Anthony was tied for 5th, putting him in a threesome with Ernie Els and Sergio Garcia. Anthony finished 14th which moved him up to 35th on the Fed Ex Race, that will put him in the next two events in Boston and Chicago. If he can finish in the top 30 on the Fed Ex Cup Race it will get him into the Tour Championship in Atlanta.

We're in a big push to set our all-time high rounds of golf for the summer season. We are offering a couple of specials that you would be hard pressed to pass up - our way of saying thanks for a great start to 2007.

This week our Spotlight Special is our "Future’s So Bright" special. Book any tee time this week and we will throw in a pair of SunDog Sunglasses, and 2 sleeves of Precept Laddie Extreme Golf Balls, a great value of over $100.00, all for $49.00. Add $10.00 for Friday, Saturday or Sunday.

The Spotlight Special for the Month of September is a deal you can’t pass up. $99.00 gets you free golf from September 1st to September 23rd, 2007. Jump on the chance to play Trilogy for less than a Benjamin!

Until next week keep rolling that rock!

August continues to be a record breaking month. We had a highlight over PGA Championship weekend with over 140 players on Saturday - a testament to the condition of the golf course and our very competitive pricing.

We have started our aerification program for the greens this week. We will be back open on Wednesday the 22nd of August. With the extreme heat and humidity it is ideal for the Bermuda to grow in thru the aerification. We fully expect the greens to be in good shape by the weekend.

Scott Werline and his team members continue to keep the golf course in great condition. Our staff has had the opportunity to play some of the best golf courses in the desert, and Trilogy Golf Club stacks up with the best of them. That is one of the fun things about my job - offering pricing for our facility that allows golfers of any economic position to play on a tour-level golf course maintained to the best conditions anywhere in the Coachella valley.

We have signed on to host a Patriot Golf Day on September 1st. This special day is a fundraiser with the proceeds from the event going to the Wounded Warriors Inc. We are having a special rate that day and encourage you to come out and join us to help raise funds for our soldiers who have been injured while protecting us. We will have counter displays and posters explaining the Patriot Golf Day, and special events out on the golf course, drink specials, and a lunch special in the Azul Restaurant the day of the event.

Hearing all of the talk about how hot and humid it was in Tulsa for the PGA Championship made me smile. I thought to myself, “Hey Folks, that is what we deal with everyday here in the desert in August.” Tiger Woods looks like a cat playing with a mouse he just caught; tossing it back and forth, actually making it think it has a chance of getting away, but in the end he is just too dominant.

On the Anthony Kim watch, Anthony continues to perform quite well on the tour, but he was somewhat disappointed with his play at the PGA. He felt that he struck the ball quite well, but just couldn't get any steam rolling to make a push. Considering the major champion winners who failed to make the cut, I am very excited with Anthony’s progress in the Majors this year.

We continue to offer some great specials this month that you don’t want to miss out on. Book a tee time and look for specials that either include free golf balls, free SunDog Sunglasses, or Free Lunches. Check out Trilogygolfclub.com/laquinta to find the special that best fits you.

The Azul restaurant continues to produce some of the finest lunches this side of Palm Springs. Chef Roy is very excited to announce the Mexican Dinner planned for August 31st. This isn’t the typical Mexican food that you're used to; Chef Roy is flexing his culinary skills to produce a 4 course meal that will knock your socks off. Check out Azulattrilogy.com to find out more. Book your reservations now, we will sell out!

Until next week keep rolling that rock!

We are off to a great start for the Month of August. Round numbers are up, the golf course continues to be in great shape, and the weather has been extremely comfortable for this time of year.

We continue to offer some great specials this month that you don’t want to miss out on. Book a tee time and look for specials that either include free golf balls, free SunDog Sunglasses, or free lunches. Check out Trilogygolfclub.com/laquinta to find the special that best fits you.

The great discounts continue to bring people into the golf shop. Golf Professionals Nick Mitchell and Rick Alexander continue to put some great merchandise on the discount tables.

You have to think Tiger is the odds-on favorite for the PGA Championship. An 8 Stroke victory last week was an absolute runaway. Tiger on a roll with the confidence that he is showing right now may be hard to beat...

On the "Anthony Kim Watch," Anthony feels like he has found his groove with his driver. He hit a couple of drives over 400 yards at the Reno–Tahoe event last week. With the swirling winds, Anthony, like many of the players, had trouble judging yardages. Reno is so high that the ball will travel sometimes 10% further than normal. Numerous times Anthony thought he had the right club, only to see the ball sail over the flagstick and the green. My son Paull had the privilege of caddying last week for Anthony. He commented that the golf course was extremely difficult to walk, especially with a tour bag on your back. Anthony has had a couple of articles about him, one in Golf Week Magazine and one in Golf Tips Magazine.

The boys head for Tulsa, Oklahoma for the PGA Championship. Paull will caddy during the practice rounds and help Anthony read the greens. Anthony’s regular caddy, Bambi, will take over during the actual event.

Local favorite Jeff Gove continues his late summer surge with a nice finish in Reno. Jeff as made the cut in 4 of his last 5 events. He needs a top 5 finish to propel him back into the top 100.

Until next week keep rolling that rock!
