Thanksgiving has come and gone, and I have finally come out of my Tryptophan fog. We hosted the Toyota Tradition on Wednesday, and everything was well received by the players, management company, and tournament organizers. This event’s history dates back to the early years of the Skins Game when Toyota was one of the major sponsors. The event brings the largest Toyota Dealers from around the nation to play in this event. Toyota makes this tournament feel like a tour event for the players. Each Foursome has two caddies, a standard barrier, and a score keeper. There were a combination of manual scoreboards and computerized scoreboards throughout the golf course.

A Big “Atta Boy” to Managers Nick Mitchell, Roy Luna, Della Lemons, and Scott Werline and their team members for everything they did for this event. No detail was left out.

This week we have the pleasure of hosting Golf Magazine and many of the Top 100 Teachers in America. They are doing both a photo shoot and video shoot all week. The teachers include Mike Davis, Gerry Mowlds, Eddie Merrins, Peter Krause, Glenn Deck, Tom Stickney, Carl Welty, Roger Gunn, and David Wright. You will see our facility in Golf Magazine and on their website. A big thanks to Embassy Suites of La Quinta for hosting everyone involved.

The last week of November and the first couple of weeks of December is a slower time in the desert. Most people are back to work and saving up vacation time for just before the Christmas holiday. This is a great time to take advantage of some of our great rate specials. Look in your email inbox for email specials over the next couple of weeks. Also tour our website to see what we have coming up for you.

Azul Restaurant is in full swing with its Friday and Saturday night dinners. Call for your reservation to ensure we have room for you! Chef Roy continues to produce some of the finest meals seen in the Coachella Valley and you don’t event have to leave the Trilogy Community; how lucky is that!

Upcoming Events this week include

Free Golf Clinic hosted by myself, Bob Veroulis and one of our Golf professional Staff. Clinic will be 9:00 am until 10:00 am. Come find out what the Tour Players do that you are not doing!

12/7/07
From 9am to 1pm experience our golf club Demo Day.

On the sports landscape, How bout them Cowboys?! Thanksgiving Turkey always tastes sweeter after a Cowboy victory. Up next is Green Bay, one of the premier games of the year. Saturday was kind of a bummer for both Brandon and I as we saw our college teams go down in defeat. The Ducks were manhandled by the Bruins, just like in the wild! My poor Grizzlies lost a heartbreaker to the Terriers of Wofford. The Terriers! Aren’t they some ankle-biting little nipper of a dog?! We missed a winning field goal as time was expiring. So much for an undefeated regular season! Brandon has been informed that the Alumni Association will pay him to stay home and watch the game on TV. Brandon goes 0-4 in watching the Ducks live! I told Brandon before the game that the Ducks needed to go to the Single Wing from yester year. The Ducks didn’t listen and lost two quarterbacks! Now they have to go to the old single wing this year in the civil war with Oregon State.

Until next week keep rolling that rock!

I cannot believe that Thanksgiving is just a couple of days away, one of my favorite holidays because my Cowboys always play. I have so many fond memories of some great games. It was also a great time as a kid to watch the Skins Game on TV while we were either dealing with cold weather or buried in snow! This is the 25th anniversary of the event, a little bittersweet because of the close relationship I have had with the event over the past couple of years.

Today, I am excited and proud to announce the promotion of Nick Mitchell to the Head Golf Professional position here at Trilogy Golf Club at La Quinta. Nick is a 4 year member of the staff, and he has been learning and growing each year. Nick brings an abundance of enthusiasm for the customer and a desire to keep moving Trilogy Golf Club at La Quinta into the arena of the top golf facilities in the Coachella Valley. His attention to detail, and leadership allows him the ability to lead a staff of professionals that are dedicated to providing you a great golfing experience. Nick, way to go!

The Azul Restaurant will be open for breakfast and lunch on Thanksgiving Day. We will be open for regular restaurant hours on Friday and Saturday. Dinners continue to be a success, great time to bring your family and guests out so you don’t have to worry about kitchen duties over the weekend.

We hosted the American Single Golf Group on Sunday. Della, Chef Roy and the rest of the staff WOW'd them with a fantastic meal after golf. They were extremely happy with the condition of the golf course, way to go Scott and Staff.

Each week we are getting a combination of new applications and renewals for the 2008 Hybrid Pass and Coupon Program. Just a quick reminder that the $750.00 incentive for purchase of the Hybrid Pass or either of the 50 Round Coupons expires on December 15th, 2007. Please check out the website to see the changes to the program for 2008.

Wednesday we are hosting the Toyota Tradition. This Tour style event is set up for the Toyota Dealers around the country. PGA Tour Player Mark O’Meara and LPGA Player Sandra Moody will be participating, hitting tee shots on the par 3’s for the players.

We are now offering holiday pies for you to purchase. Check with your Azul Restaurant Team member for more information. With the holidays just around the corner, if you are thinking of a party, the Azul Restaurant can cater nearly every need that you have. Check with Food and Beverage Manager Della Lemons to book your party at your private residence or here at the Azul Restaurant.

Foootball started early last week, with a disappointing loss for the Ducks of Oregon. They lost a road game to Arizona State University which cost them a shot at the national title. Brandon is now officially 0-3 while watching his Ducks in person, so please do not give him any more tickets to the games. The Grizzlies on the other hand toyed with the Bobcats of Montana State before putting the hammer down in the late part of the fourth quarter, to win the 107th meeting between these two Montana schools, 41-20. The Grizzlies, seeded third, they will have home field advantage throughout the playoffs until the semi-finals. This is the 15th consecutive year the Grizzlies have advanced to the 1-AA Playoffs. If only the big boys could understand how great a 16 team playoff would be for division 1-A. This Bowl Championship Series still has some holes in it.

How bout them Cowboys! Was kind of coasting with Terrell catching 4 TD passes, only to be sitting on the edge of my seat at the end, counting on the Defense to hold on one time in the fourth quarter.

Final note, for the Trilogy Community Members, the golf course and Azul Restaurant will be closed on Wednesday, November 21st for a private event.

I would also like to remind all the community members that this time of year family members who are golfers and non-golfers will be at your home. The golf course is closed to any activities other than golf. In years past, frisbee and football games have spilled over from personal residences on to the golf course. Just a reminder that for the safety of all concerned this is not permitted. Also the golf course is closed to all pedestrian traffic or private golf cars unless you have checked in to play golf. We value the safety of all of your family members and hope that you would cooperate with these concerns. The dress code will also be enforced for anyone using the practice facility. There is a fee to use the practice facility, for anyone who doesn’t have an annual pass. The practice facility is monitored throughout the day to make sure everyone is in compliance.

Until next week keep rolling that rock!

Another big weekend here at Trilogy Golf Club at La Quinta. Friday thru Sunday saw us have over 641 rounds. We entertained 9 different groups over the weekend.

A big shout of congratulations to our Chef Roy Luna! He won an award at the 2nd Annual Fiesta of Chiles in Coachella over the weekend. Roy’s recipe for Salsa was the Blue Ribbon winner. This is the second year in a row that Roy has one an award at this event. Roy, way to go!

Things have been finalized for the 2008 Hybrid Pass and Coupon Program, please refer to the website to see the minor changes to the program.

This week we will be busy again, with 4 different groups. The golf course continues to be in great shape and the customer responses as been very positive. We continue to be full; we are one of only a few golf courses open, and we are very reasonably priced compared to some of the golf courses that are just opening up and are on golf car paths only.

Chris Miller of Image Imagery is in the process of putting together an incredible portfolio of pictures for the golf course. You will see some of these awesome pictures up on our website over the coming months.

The Azul restaurant continues to impress the patrons with new and exciting dishes. The Friday and Saturday night dinners have been a great success. Book your reservation early before we fill up.

We are now offering holiday pies for you to purchase; check with your Azul Restaurant Team member for more information. With the holidays just around the corner, if you are thinking of a party, the Azul Restaurant can cater to almost every need that you may have. Check with Food and Beverage Manager Della Lemons to book your party at your private residence or here at the Azul Restaurant.

I just returned from where some say football is a religion - Norman Oklahoma! Had the opportunity to spend a couple of days with my son, play golf and take in an Oklahoma basketball game and football game. Weather was unseasonably warm, which was great for me! My son has almost become a Boomer Sooner thru and thru, but he still has some Montana Grizzly in him! Sooners 52 Baylor Bears 21. Montana Grizzlies, Conference Champions 10 consecutive years in a row rolled over Idaho State 27- 10. Now on to one of the oldest Football rivalries in the country... the Grizzly – Bobcat game in Bozeman Montana. My wife and daughter are going up to represent us in this Montana ritual.

How 'bout them Cowboys! I didn’t get to see the game, but my son kept me updated as I was flying back from Norman last night. I did get to see the highlights. Ducks update - they were off this week.

Until next week keep rolling that rock!

So much going on, where do I start!

We just finished two big events this weekend. Saturday was the Third Annual Michael A. Krawczyk Memorial Foundation Golf Tournament. We had over 110 players participate in this event that raised over $1,900 for Mike’s Foundation. Michael was a golf professional here at Trilogy who left this earth way too early. His family and the staff here at Trilogy continue his name through this event to help under-privileged juniors learn to play golf.

This event is about fun and honoring Michael, who was larger than life, was more about having a great time and touching people’s lives than competition.

Yesterday we held our inaugural Couples Club Championship. The Overall Gross Winners were Gary and Karen Brown, who finished with a total score of 180. The Overall Net Winners were George Erwin and Martha Halnon, who blew away the field with a net score of 122. Just in case you are not a numbers person, that is 22 under par! You will have to ask Martha who she took a lesson from, to change her golfing career? :-)

Other winners included:
First Flight
1st Gross
Dave and Maggie Bolles, who were celebrating their 40th Anniversary and a big record breaking Minnesota Viking victory!
2nd Gross
Harvey and Judy Geddes
1st Net
Paul and Janet McChesney
2nd Net
Tom and Sue Sweet

2nd Flight
1st Gross
Bryan Humphries and Nancy Zimmerman
2nd Gross
Jerry and Paula Wilson
1st Net
Curt and Stretch Blount
2nd Net
Roz Wright and Bob Levings

Closest to the Pin Winners
#6 Mo Dinsmore #8 Bud Devusser, #11 Janet McChesney #17 Ben Davis
Both events were filled with great golf conditions, fantastic weather and incredible food!

Everyone is talking about next year already.

Next on the slate is a Men’s Guest Day November 28th. This event will include a couple of other clubs from the valley. Check with Tom Sweet for more information on this event.

For all you sports fans who didn’t get a chance to see the Oregon Ducks prove that a Duck can beat a Sun Devil, Oregon dashed the hopes of Arizona State’s perfect season and allowed Brandon O’Neill to have a little smile on his face as he talks with our National Director of Golf, Kirk Kokoska, who is a follower of the Sun Devils. He will have to get his joy out of seeing our great revenue numbers this month. When the Duck’s Heisman Trophy candidate Dennis Dixon went out with an injury, they had to give the reigns to a Montana guy wouldn’t you know. Brady Leaf, who hails from Great Falls, Montana, did a yeoman’s job filling in for Dixon.

My beloved Montana Grizzlies continue to run the path of the undefeated. An escape from Portland State 34-31 allowed the Grizzlies to run their record to 9-0.
The victory this weekend gave the Grizzlies a record 10th Consecutive Big Sky Conference and 15th Consecutive Playoff appearance.

My sports weekend was finished off by watching my Cowboys dismantle the Eagles and then watching the new and improved Lakers roll on the Jazz!!

Until next week keep rolling that rock!
