Sunday Morning welcomed us with unseasonably large amounts of rain! Over 2 inches fell yesterday making the golf course impossible to play. Today, Monday we are only open for 9 holes. The back nine still has holes such as #10,#15,#18 that have large pockets of water that still need to be pumped out. If the weather holds the next couple of days as it looks today we should be back open tomorrow Tuesday. More than likely we will have a golf car path only policy due to the fact that some fairways still have a lot of moisture in them.

Our strategy right now is to pump the excess water either back into the lakes or onto the practice facility. The practice facility will be closed for the next couple of days until we can get all the water removed from it. Once the water is lower in the ponds we will be able to pump the water from the practice facility back into the ponds.

The word on the street is that many golf courses in the area were closed. We were not the only facility affected.

On a more positive note, Chef Roy is preparing for the Pasta Dinner tomorrow. I would suggest that you call right now to make your reservation if you haven’t yet, as seating is limited. For the price, you can’t go wrong! Azul also has some great offers for people who come in for Saturday Night Dinners. You will get a 2 for 1 coupon for Sunday Breakfast! Check with one of your servers for more information on some of the exciting specials we have going right now.

Fat Tuesday is a week away! The food, the fun and maybe even a few beads (Hey now, we are a reputable facility, so get your mind out of the gutter, haha). Reserve your table now before we sell out. February 5th will be our Fat Tuesday Dinner. A flavor of New Orleans without the travel! This evening will sell out, so please call early to book your reservation.

I want to again remind you of the upcoming merchandising opportunities that we have this year. This year we are adding a great number of shots of the golf course from various sources. You will see some exciting changes to the pictures in our website.

On the Anthony Kim watch, Anthony found out first hand about the PGA Tour's new "made the cut but did not finish" policy. To combat the increased number of players who make the cut over the set limit of 70 players, the tour started a rule that a certain number of players who actually made the cut would be paid, but would not get to finish the weekend. Anthony started off with a great round of 68 only to struggle on the south course at Torrey Pines with a 5 over par 77. He will try and regroup as he heads off to the FBR Open in Phoenix. What a week that will be, golf tournament and Super Bowl in the same city. The FBR is already one of the largest spectator golf events played!

We are just posting our exciting specials for the month of February. Golf Balls, hats and sunglasses galore... those are some of the items that we will be offering with our various specials.

Until next week, keep rolling the rock!

I guess the question on everyone's mind this week has nothing to do with golf. It has to do with a certain quarterback's aching ankle. Will the Patriots go 19-0? Will the Giants pull off the biggest David vs. Goliath triumph in recent memory? We will find out on Sunday.

We have a ton of people in town for not only the Super Bowl, but also the FBR Open. There will be a lot of people looking for things to do, hopefully one of the things they will look to do is play golf. Let me tell you, there is no better place to play than at "The Best in the West," Trilogy Golf Club at Vistancia. The greens are rolling at about an 11 on the stimp meter and with the recent rain we have had, the fairways and roughs are lush. There aren't many tee times left this week, but if you are looking for a steal, check out our $54 Super Bowl Sunday special. It is a definite touchdown!

For you romantics...We are having a special Valentine's Dinner the night of the 14th. We will be serving a special three course dinner beginning at 5pm that evening. Reservations will go quick, so call the Verde Grill today to reserve your special evening - 623.328.5100.

I hope to see all you football fans out here real soon, enjoy the big game and keep 'em in the Fairways.

Last week I mentioned that the week was going to be a "Chamber of Commerce-esque" postcard weather week. Well I underestimated how outstanding the weather would be last week, and today it looks like it continues. Good news for golfers.

Last week’s weather is just what the doctor ordered for the golf course. The fairways are gaining in strength everyday. The applications that we have been putting down have been working and the growth is noticeable each day. The greens continue to be some of the best in the desert. Scott Werline and his Staff continue to give them tender loving care. Some mechanical improvements on the equipment have also boosted the speed and roll of the greens. No excuses not to go low at Trilogy Golf Club!

Head Golf Professional Nick Mitchell continues to offer some great savings in the Golf Shop. Purchase any two like items and get the third free. I suggest stopping by the golf shop and getting the best products the golf industry has to offer at prices that will leave you money left over for dinner!

We continue to be busy this week. The Trilogy Men’s Club will be hosting their 1st Men’s Invitational. They are slated to have 30 teams. Contact Rick Emerton in the golf shop if you are interested in playing. There are still a few slots for times to be added to the event. We have some great specials for Thursday and Friday. You can either check them out on our website or call the golf shop. The specials include a $119.00 Early Bird Special breakfast, golf balls and golf). Our "after 11am" special Monday thru Thursday is $99. Book now before the times are taken up!

Thursday Night’s South of the Border Night was a huge success. We sold out! Della, Roy and their staff did an outstanding job. The music was an added bonus to a great night. Friday and Saturday nights continue to increase in popularity. Roy and his staff are offering some of the finest meals around. On the horizon we have the Pasta Night on January 29th. Reservations will be limited to 60 people. Reserve your table now before we sell out. February 5th will be our Fat Tuesday Dinner - a flavor of New Orleans like you have never tasted before! This evening will likely sell out, so please call early to book your reservation.

This year we are adding a great number of photos of the golf course from various sources. You will see some exciting changes to the pictures in our website.

Currently, we have a video tour of the facility Produced by Ron Hyde Productions (view it here). Email it to your friends who are thinking of coming to the desert. Ron did a great job getting the flavor of our facility. To see more of Ron’s Work you can go to www.ronhyde.net.

We will be adding to this great video production with additional pictures from GolfShotsUnlimited.com and Jeffery Byron, and Chris Miller. They just finished doing aerial photos from the golf course a couple of weeks ago. What a great addition to your living room - a picture of your house and the golf course shot from the sky. We will be selling the framed pictures and also an album of the clubhouse, all 18 holes and a picture of the whole project. These shots are professionally done and will be a piece of artwork that you will treasure for a lifetime.

Jeffery Byron, a local photographer, will have yet more photos from which you can select. We will have a website set up in a couple months where you can view his photos of Trilogy Golf Club and purchase them online.

On the Anthony Kim watch, Anthony had a great showing over the weekend at the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic. Saturday found Anthony in the lead of a tour event for the first time after 63 holes. He had 10 putts in 9 holes at La Quinta Country Club over his first nine holes. A cold putter on the final nine holes cost Anthony a realistic chance of winning his first event. Sunday found Anthony tied for second, 4 shots out of the lead behind Justin Leonard. Again a bulky putter was Anthony’s downfall. It was not that he putted poorly, he just had too many of the putts just skim the hole. A strong finish with 3 birdies in the final 4 holes helped Anthony secure a tie for 3rd place. Anthony will move his game down to San Diego and challenge Tiger and Phil for the first time this year. Having watched Anthony 3 of the 5 days of the Hope, I can honestly say that there are very few players on the PGA Tour who have a better combination of aggressiveness and ball striking abilities than Anthony at age 22. This week gave us more of an indication of how well Anthony can play when he is in contention. Look to see many great things out of him over the next couple of weeks.

Well the Super Bowl is set, Patriots and the Giants. That is why they play the game.
When the Patriots signed Randy Moss they were basically inked into the Super Bowl. They have lived up to everyone’s expectations and beyond. The Giants, on the other hand - who would have thought? First time in Super Bowl History that two brothers played in back to back Super Bowls as quarterback! The Manning Family has much to rejoice in again this year.

Until next week, keep rolling the rock!

Weather straight from a Chamber of Commerce Postcard is scheduled for this week! What a great time for the desert golfers of southern California. The PGA Tour West Coast Swing is here, too. Practice rounds for the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic started yesterday. This is the first time ever that three of the sites for the Hope rotation are in the city of La Quinta!

Increased traffic in La Quinta due to the Hope event will result in increased traffic here at Trilogy Golf Club at La Quinta. We have some great offers this week.

We continue to put down applications of Urea, a treatment that will help with the growth of the fairways. We should have the whole course completed with the first round of treatments early this week. We will continue to rotate the "golf car path only" approach on one hole per side, while we continue to give the fairways extra care. The added applications and the warm weather this week should bring some improved growth in the fairways. The greens continue to be in the finest shape to date.

I would like to remind you as I did last week that we have also instituted a two golf car per foursome limit. Occasionally you will see three golf cars per group. We have specific situations for that happening. This is a policy that is very common at facilities that are as busy as we are. The 3-4 golf cars per group also have affect the growth of the fairways (excess traffic), so this policy will help with the fairway improvement.

I would like to make a suggestion during Bob Hope Week. Jefferson will be heavily used because both PGA West Palmer Private and Silverrock will be host sites for this year’s event. My suggestion to avoid the excess traffic would be to use Monroe to access our golf course. Bob Hope practice rounds started on January 13th, with the tournament actually starting on January 16th, 2008.

We have worked out special pricing at the Embassy Suites Hotel in La Quinta for any Trilogy Community Members. If you have family members or close friends in town and don’t have room at your home I would suggest putting them up at the Embassy Suites, where they will be treated like royalty.

Well, the 2008 PGA Tour is in full swing, which also means the Anthony Kim watch will be in full swing. Tentatively, Anthony will be playing in the Hope, as well as San Diego, LA, Tucson and Phoenix. Anthony has had a great off-season of conditioning. This year looks to be even better than last year with a possible victory in sight.

We are continuing our email updates. You will start to see a couple of emails a week promoting various activities at the golf course and a couple of Azul Restaurant email blasts that are specific to the restaurant. Almost all of the 2008 pass holders have given us their email addresses. If you aren’t receiving our email updates, please contact the golf shop. Some of the email addresses were hard to read, so we may have missed yours.

On the sports scene, you can put my Cowboys to bed - same result for the 12th consecutive year, ending the season with a loss. What was looking like a promising season ended in defeat. Many opportunities late in the game, but the Giants' defense rose up to the occasion. Lakers are rolling and the Dodgers bring hope to a new season. I had a couple of people ask me how I felt after yesterday, to which I replied that I feel the same as I have felt the past twelve years, and I feel the same way that every other fan will feel, except the Super Bowl winner. We sometimes get too involved in the game. Cowboy great Duane Thomas, when asked about the importance of the Super Bowl, said, “If it is so important, why are they playing it again next year?” A man after my own heart. Some will say I am just a bitter Cowboy fan; I just say I am a realist.

Until next week keep rolling that rock!

Happy New Year!

As fast as Christmas and New Year’s Day moved upon us, they swiftly leave us. We stand here reflecting back on what a great year we had in 2007 - a year of completion! Things that were completed this year include
- Brandon O'Neill was named the General Manager. Under his direction the facility made some great strides in course conditions, customer service, the Azul menu, and the bottom line.
- Nick Mitchell was rewarded for his hard work over the past 4 years, being given the new position as Head Golf Professional.
- Della Lemons, who was hired in August as our Food and Beverage Manager, along with Head Chef Roy Luna, did a remarkable job of moving the Azul Restaurant forward. The final evening of 2007 saw Azul put on a blowout private New Year’s Eve Party for many of the Trilogy Homeowners.
- On the golf side we had a record response to your 2008 Hybrid Pass and Coupon Program. The program, innovative for the desert, provides Trilogy Homeowners the opportunity to play one of the best conditioned golf courses throughout the year for one of the best values found anywhere in the Coachella Valley.

We continue to upgrade our communication lines with the valued customers of Trilogy Golf Club at La Quinta. We are continually compiling information about our consumers to provide you the best merchandise, at the most competitive prices in the Coachella Valley. You will start to see emails on a bi-weekly basis to keep you updated on specials and activities at the golf course.

If you are not getting our email blast, please go to our email specials page on the golf club website to sign up.

There have been some questions concerning the condition of the fairways, and Trilogy Homeowners and Passholders were sent a letter giving an explanation. You will start to see some daily improvements. We have been making various maintenance applications, the results of which you will see over the next couple of weeks. We appreciate your understanding, but please also understand that we are providing you some of the best conditioned greens and tees the valley has to offer right now, with respect to grass content, speed, and the holding of approach shots. Many of the golf courses in the valley who seeded early like us are feeling some effects of the abnormally high November temperatures and lower-than-normal December temperatures. Many comparisons have been made with other facilities. Please note that some of the comparisons are with golf courses which seeded later than we did, stayed on golf car paths longer than we did, and stayed closed longer that we did. We did our best to get make our facility as accommodating to you, the golfer, as soon as possible once we opened. All these things must be taken into consideration when comparing fairway conditions.

I am excited to report that we are offering some of the best golf specials that the valley has to offer. Click over to our web specials page and book your time before these deals are taken.

Until next week keep rolling that rock!
