In honor of those soldiers who have served our country and those who made the ultimate sacrifice of losing their lives so that we may have the ability to live a life without tyranny, I would like to personally thank you and spend a moment in silence. I hope all of you would do the same as you read this blog today. Without them, all of this is irrelevant and insignificant. I thank you all and honor you all who have served our country.

We had a busy weekend with over 210 golfers each day since Friday. Today looks to be another great day with a lot of space for walk-in traffic. Golf Course Superintendent Scott Werline and his staff continue to do a fantastic job.

Just a reminder that tomorrow (Tuesday, May 27^th) we start our maintenance of the greens on the back nine, and only the front nine will be open. Wednesday the golf course will be closed and the Azul Restaurant will have a limited menu. We will reopen on Thursday with all 18 holes having been aerated and sanded. It will take about 7 days for the greens to heal.

Our Monarch Pass Frequent Player card program is going strong. On Saturday alone we sold over 21 passes. A big "thanks" to my staff for helping the customers see what a great program this is. The special rate of $125.00 will end on May 31^st. The normal rate of $200.00 will start on June 1^st.

A reminder that we will be starting Double Tee Starts at 7:00 am June 1^st. We will have three full turns each day; the first tee times will go from 7:00 am to 9:00 am in the mornings. We will then start again for Twilight at 11:30 am to 1:30 pm and finally we will have super twilight from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. This whole program allows us to have double the morning tee times before it gets too hot.

At Azul we will be having the first of many Summer Family Style Dinners. Seating is limited, so please call for reservations. Dinner will include Fried Chicken, Potato Salad, Cole Slaw and dinner rolls.

On the Anthony Kim watch, Anthony participated in the Crown Plaza Colonial Invitational in Fort Worth. Anthony finished in a tie for 40^th. Not a lot of highlights. Anthony did have a run of 5 birdies in a row yesterday to keep the round exciting. His plan is to come to the desert and prepare for the US Open at Torrey Pines in La Jolla. Anthony has fond memories of Torrey Pines, having won the Junior World Championships there.

Wow! Record setting weekend for high temperatures! Despite the heat, we had 158 players and 155 players respectively each day. I toured the golf course early Saturday morning, finding the facility in very good shape. We will be doing golf course maintenance next Tuesday and Wednesday. Scott Werline, Head Golf Course Superintendent, has informed me that we will be using a small ¼ tyne to aerify the golf course next week. On Tuesday we will only have 9 holes open and we will be closed Wednesday. We will be back open for normal business on Thursday. We will be offering reduced green fee rates as the golf course heals. The healing process will take about 5-7 days.

We have already sold 55 Monarch Passes as of today! This summer frequent player card is open to the general pubic and to the Trilogy community members. The $200 pass will be sold for $125.00 through the Month of May. The pass offers $225.00 worth of food, golf, and golf shop certificates. The Monarch will allow you to reserve times for you and your guest up to 7 days out. Green Fees will be reduced for you and your guests, plus you can get 10% off on any other green fee special we are offering at the time. This special rate will only be offered until May 31^st. Starting June 1st, the rate will go up to $200.00.

This month we are rolling out our “Play all Day for $10.00 Campaign." When you purchase your green fee you can add $10.00 to have the ability to play all day. Additional rounds will be on a first come first serve basis and will need to be booked after each round.

Azul restaurant continues to be quite busy with breakfast and lunch. We are excited about the May 30^th dinner event. Chef is planning our first Family Style Chicken Dinner. On the Anthony Kim watch, Anthony took the week off to recharge his much depleted batteries, before heading back to Dallas for the Crown Plaza Colonial Invitational in Fort Worth. This is an event that Anthony plays well in and he is looking forward to being in contention to capture his second Tour title. On a personal note, I have been informed that my son, Paull Veroulis, a senior at Oklahoma University, will be joining team AK, providing Anthony more time to spend on his game. Paull will be responsible for helping Anthony set up his schedule and handle any requests that people will have of Anthony. Paull and Anthony have a very unique bond that started out as high school players at La Quinta high school.

Monday (Memorial Day) we will have a double tee start. The Men’s Club will play a reverse shotgun starting on #10 and back up into the front side. Again a quick note to let you know of the upcoming maintenance schedule for the end of the month, we will be aerating the greens on Tuesday May 27^th and May 28^th. Tuesday we will have 9 holes open, and Wednesday we will be closed. The golf course will be back in operation starting on Thursday May 29^th.

What a great weekend! Mother’s Day saw great weather and great golf. What more could you ask for?! Oh, yes - and the Player’s Championship on television.

Let’s start with Mother’s Day. For me, personally, it was great because our daughter Maggie came home from college for the weekend. The antics between she and my wife keep the house full of laughter. Here at Trilogy, the Azul Restaurant staff was very busy putting on the Celebration Dinner and Mother’s Day Brunch. Chef Roy and his staff continue to raise the bar with each event. The Celebration Dinner (featuring Chef Roy’s Award Winning Entrée) fed over 60 people. The Mother’s Day Brunch and its spectacular presentation fed over 95 Trilogy Community Members, Family, and friends. The next event that Chef is planning is our Family Style chicken Dinner set for May 30^th. We are taking reservations for this event already. It is sure to be an event that will sell out. I suggest that you book your reservations now!

On the Anthony Kim watch, The Players Championship was exciting down to the wire. Anthony was in contention all the way into the third round until a gust of wind prevented his shot on #17 from bouncing forward on to the green. It instead bounced backwards into the water. A triple bogey 6 was followed up by a double bogey 6 on the final hole. Rounds of 79 and 76 left Anthony in a tie for 47^th. The event saw some of the best players drop. Tiger spent his recouperation time watching and thinking that even on a bad knee he could have taken this event!

For some this is the best time to play golf; weather hasn’t heated up to much, the golf course is more accessible, and we are offering the best rates in the Coachella Valley. The weekend saw us with some pleasant temperatures, which was great for our three Outside Groups that played on Sunday. Last Tuesday the weather again was perfect for the Trilogy Ladies Association Member-Guest. The Trilogy Ladies hosted 46 ladies from various clubs around the Coachella Valley. Eighty ladies were welcomed with a beautiful continental breakfast early Tuesday morning, and Chef Roy again outdid himself with his luncheon presentation for the ladies at the Santa Rosa Club. Crystal Clear Homes provided the ladies with (2) $50.00 Gift Certificates for the winners of the Closest to the pin on #6.

Two very special events are upcoming this week. We are celebrating Chef Roy Luna’s “Best of Show” entrée from the International Date Food Festival. On Saturday Night he will offer his award winning Morrocan Pork Lollipops, served with brazed cabbage and grilled fingerling potatoes. Please call for reservations. Dinner will start at 6:30 pm.

Azul’s Mother’s Day Brunch is fast becoming one of the best-displayed brunches in the Coachella Valley. Chef Roy and his staff have prepared a Special Brunch for the Queen of your family. Make sure you make your reservations early because seating is limited. Brunch will open at 10:00 am.

On the Anthony Kim watch, All I can say is WOW! Youngest Player to win a PGA Tour Event since 2002. Lowest 72 hole total by 3 Shots. Biggest winning margin, 5 shots. Anthony came through and proved what I have been telling you since November of 2006. Wachovia’s Defending Champion was Tiger Woods, and Anthony put on a Tiger like clinic on Sunday. The whole back nine was a walk in the park and an opportunity to soak in such a commanding win!!!

I caddied for Anthony in 2001 for a US Open qualifier. I told Desert Sun Golf writer Larry Bohannan, that Anthony at that time had all the tools to play on the tour. He has made me a golf prophet. This is just the start; Anthony is on a roll and he’s ready to challenge at the Player’s Championship this coming week. The victory gives him an invitation to the Mercedes Championship and The Masters. After the Players Championship, Anthony will be heading to the Coachella Valley where he has purchased a home. It will be some time for relaxation. He will prepare for the US Open from the desert and from Dallas. Anthony vaulted to #4 on the FedEx Cup and #16 in the world rankings. Be prepared to see this young kid represent our team during the upcoming Ryder Cup. This aggressive, confident young man is just what Captain Paul Azinger is looking for to change the fate of the US Team.
