Lots of action here at Trilogy Golf Club this week. The Ladies Club will be hosting their Winter Guest Day. The 8:00 am shotgun has 80 players involved.

This weekend we are proud to host the Toyota Junior Tour Championship. Eighty-eight of the best junior golfers in Southern California will try to put their name on the Trophy - a trophy that includes Tiger Woods and Anthony Kim. Next week the Men's Club will be doing their Holiday Event with over 80 players expected to participate.

The Azul Restaurant is slated to be open for Italian Night on Thursday night and Prime Rib on Saturday night. Your can contact Denise, our Azul Restaurant Floor Manager, for reservations and details.

We are teaming up with Jordan Outreach Ministries to conduct a raffle on Friday December 5th. The raffle prize will be a set of Bridgestone Irons to be given away on December 15th. Profit from the raffle will go to the Jordan Outreach Ministries.

Demo Day December 5th, 2008

We will be hosting a Demo Day with Adams Golf and Body Balance. Try out the newest equipment from Adams Golf and find out more on how you can get yourself in better shape to hit your new clubs.

Despite the warm temperatures up to this point we have hit December which means we could soon be hit with frost. I would like to remind everyone about our frost policy:

Once the golf course superintendent has determine how long the frost delay will be we will prepare for a forward shotgun. Players will be placed on the hole they would have been if there was no delay. Any player that is forward shotgunned on the front nine will alternate with the afternoon groups to complete their rounds. We will not mow the greens in the mornings that we have frost. This will help shorten the length of the delay. Please remember that any area of grass that you walk on during the frost delay will die. Please understand that if the course is under a frost delay so will the practice greens and the practice facility. Also remember that it is not the air temperature that you see at your house that is our concern, but the ground temperature of the turf on the golf course. Things to be aware of with frost, on nights or mornings that we have some wind we generally will not have frost. On nights and mornings that we have cloud cover we may not have frost. Nights that are very clear or mornings that are very clear is the prime for frost delays. The frost will not generally set on the golf course until just before daybreak. Please understand that frost is not a friend of anyone - the golfer, the golf course superintendent nor the golf shop staff and especially the golf course. There is never a time that we would hope for a frost delay.

Booking Tee Times between 7 am and 8 am on Thursday thru Saturday.

I would like to take this time to remind all passholders of the booking procedures for Thursday thru Saturday.

1. You have 12 days in advance to book tee times between 7 am and 8 am.

2. All tee times between 7 am and 8 am are exclusively for Annual Passholders. Daily Green Fee Players, and Coupon holders, are not allowed to book or play in this area of time. Starting December 1st 2008 we will not allow anyone other than Passholders to play at this time. We have been very understanding up to this point, you as the pass holder are responsible when booking the tee time to know what the restrictions are. Pass holders have made it very difficult with the golf professional staff showing up with guest at this time. It is a very uncomfortable situation for all. Please understand we are protecting the integrity of the Annual Pass Program when we turn away coupon holders or guests at this time.

Annual Pass holders are not allowed to book tee times between 8am and 10:30am Thursday, Friday or Saturday. Regardless of who booked the tee time, pass holders will be turned away if they show up to play in that time frame with a green fee player or a coupon holder. Starting January 1st 2009, that block of time will be moved to 8am to 11am.

In the true spirit of Thanksgiving, I would like to thank you all for your support of the operation over the past year. We have made great strides in many areas, and much of that has to do with your continued support. In a time of economic uncertainty, I feel blessed that I can work with people like the Trilogy Community Members. I appreciate your passion for this facility, and am blessed to have relationships with you that leave me with a smile each day. I am thankful to have 2 healthy parents, two healthy children, a lovable dog who is the picture of unconditional love, and a wife who is the true blessing in my life. I wish all of you a very healthy and happy Thanksgiving and look forward to a special Christmas Season.

With Thanksgiving just around the corner, please be aware of our tee time schedule. We will be running a double tee start on Thursday from 7 am to 9 am and again at 11:30 am to 12:00 noon.

Wednesday November 26th we will be starting on #10 all day long.

December 6th and 7th the golf course will be closed in the morning as we are hosting the Toyota Junior Tour Championship. These are the best junior golfers in Southern California. Chef Roy has started his Saturday Prime Rib Nights. Check the Azul Restaurant for more Details. The ever growing Thursday Night Italian Night is gaining steam and the food continues to be outstanding.

Chef Roy has a great meal slated for Thanksgiving Day. Your can contact Denise, our Azul Restaurant Floor Manager, for reservations and details.

We are teaming up with Jordan Outreach Ministries to conduct a Food Drive for the Thanksgiving Season. For every 4 cans of food you bring in we will give you a $10.00 off coupon on your next twilight round of golf. For every 2 cans of food we will give you a free 1 hour use on the practice facility.

Saturday was the Paperpack Rider Concert, and the turnout was great. It was great to see so many Trilogy Members having flashbacks! I stayed for the first set and sang every song as if I was with the band. Director of Golf Shop operations Todd Reed finally had the tone police take me away for singing off key! Pam, Ellen, and Martha from the Santa Rosa Club did a great job getting the concert together. Chef Roy, Denise, and their staff did an outstanding job with the food service and drink stations. Fun was had by all, and as almost always, the weather was outstanding.

Annual Passes continue to be well received. On Black Friday (Day after thanksgiving) we will be offering a special on the Annual Pass Program. For any new annual pass sold we will give you the rest of November 2008 and all of December2008 free. The value pack will include 3 free guest passes for December,, a free Dozen Sirxon Golf Balls, plus a free Club glove towel. plus (2) Free Entries to any instructional clinics that our golf professional staff puts on.

There has been some concern with outstanding coupons that people purchased in 2007 or 2008. The process will be the following:

The deadline to use the coupons has been extended until January 31st, 2009 it is a straight green fee for coupon exchange. Starting February 1st you will still have the value of the coupon, but it will be a credit toward the purchase of an individual green fee. Example would be the following - You purchased the 20 round Sunday thru Wednesday coupons which have a value of $80.00, on February 1st the homeowner rate on a Peak Green Fee Monday thru Thursday would be set at $111.00. You would use your coupon plus pay the difference of $31.00.

Welcome to the Trilogy Golf Club at La Quinta weekly blog! If you are a returning reader, welcome back!

The fall season is in full bloom. The golf course is in great shape. The greens are being mowed lower each week and should be at full speed by the end of the week. The Bermuda roughs are slowly starting to lose some color, which give the fairways and the greens an even better green hue. Temperatures are finally coming down which is ideal for the rye grass that was planted in late September.

Our Annual Pass program was unveiled in the middle part of October with great success. We are also starting to unveil our Coachella Valley Annual Pass Program for desert residents who do not live inside the gates of Trilogy Golf Club at La Quinta. All documents can be found on our website.

On Saturday, Bud Keegan and Roz Wright teamed up to fire a net 60 to win the Gnome Tournament. By winning the event they are now responsible to care for the Traveling Gnome and put on the next event.

The Good Life Games National Championship was completed on Sunday. 7 men and 7 ladies from around the Trilogy family of developments participated in the 4th Annual Golf Championship. Mike Friedman of Vistancia captured the men’s division with a net score of 69, while Barbara Botich from Glen Ivy was victorious in the ladies division, carding a spectacular round of net 68. Central Coast captured the Amistad Cup for the overall Low Net total for the men and women. Jim Ver West and Millie Merk each carded net 72’s for a 144 total, edging out Rick Emerton and Diane Gartland who had a total of 147.

We are in full swing at the golf course with tee time reservations. My suggestion for the passholders and the Trilogy Community Members is to take full advantage of your advanced tee time booking privileges. The tee sheet is filling quickly each day. Due to the popularity of our facility, short term booking means there are very few tee times left.

Next Saturday in the Paperback Rider Concert, when the British Invasion is landing on the practice facility of Trilogy Golf Club. This open air concert will feature Paperback Rider, a Beatle’s Tribute Band. The Azul Restaurant is putting on a VIP Party up on the Azul Deck. Enjoy a great view of the concert from there. Chef Roy will have drink specials and food to keep even the hungriest of appetites satisfied. You can reserve your spot with Denise by calling the Azul Restaurant. If you have already purchased a ticket from the Santa Rosa Club, the VIP party is only $25.00. If you haven’t prepaid the Santa Rosa Club, the price will be $25.00.

Thanksgiving Dinner at Azul Restaurant is right around the corner. Check out the Azul at Trilogy website to see what Chef Roy has planned for Thanksgiving.

The very popular and successful New Year’s Eve Party at Azul Restaurant has been rolled out. Pricing includes a live DJ and the Azul Patio totally covered for a larger dancing area. Contact Denise at the Azul Restaurant for more information.

The Member Appreciation party was a great success last week. Chef Roy and his staff rolled up their sleeves and provided some out-of-this-world hors d'ouvres.

On the Anthony Kim watch, Anthony has become a world traveler these days. Anthony lost in a playoff at the Kiwi Challenge in New Zealand to fellow Ryder Cup hero, Hunter Mahan. He also traveled to China, where he was having a decent showing until he had to disqualify himself for playing with a damaged golf club.

His next appearance will be here in the states at the Target World Challenge in Los Angeles, December 15th thru the 21st.

Until next week keep rolling that rock!

The overseeding is slightly behind schedule. We will determine on Tuesday our official reopening date. Numerous issues have prevented the transition, but we're working hard on it.

The 2009 Annual Pass Program will go on sale October 15th, 2008. The early incentive program will go from October 15th, 2008 until December 15th, 2008.

We will be sending out all the documents to the Trilogy Community Members this week. Most will be emailed out unless we don’t have an email address.

Everything will go online on October 1st, 2008.

On the Landscaping front, Scott Werline’s landscaping team is finishing up on #12 and will be heading to #13 later this week. Much like our overseeding schedule our team is behind due to unforeseen circumstances. As a reminder it takes anywhere from 5 to 7 days to complete the landscaping per hole.

On the Anthony Kim watch, Anthony played well enough to have a chance to make a putt to get into the playoff at the Tour Championship. We went toe to toe with Sergio, Phil, and Camillo Villgas all day even taking the lead at one point. In the end Anthony couldn’t make the birdie opportunities he had down the stretch. All in all it was a great season for Anthony with winnings of over $4.6 million dollars. He is off to South Korea to play in an event this week. He will return home and then venture off to Australia and then New Zealand to finish the year.

Don’t forget about Monday Night Football at Azul Restaurant. Chef Roy always has some great drink specials and tonight will feature his soon to be famous pizza. Come on down and make Azul Restaurant your Neighborhood Sports Bar.

Thursday Night is Italian Night. Chef Roy and Chef Janario will offer 3 different entrée’s each week. October 9th will be the sneak preview of what this tandem has to offer you for Thursday nights through the season.

Until next week, keep rolling the rock!

What a week last week was! It started on Tuesday when Diane Kelly made a Hole in One on #17. It was her first. I gave her husband two options for her, a diamond ring or a really nice night out and dinner. You will have to find out what his decision was. That score makes two “holes in one” in the last two weeks on the golf course.

Friday was a most exciting day in the golf world with the USA taking a nice lead in the Ryder Cup Matches. It was even more exciting for us here in La Quinta to see our Hometown boy Anthony Kim play great golf in teaming up with Phil Mickelson.

Sunday finished the week with our Annual Hit and Giggle Golf Event. This year we set up the front nine as a Par 3 tournament. We had 21 participants. Fun was had by all. Chef Roy put on a great BBQ spread, and we watched my beloved Cowboys show the fans of Lambeau Field what a Championship Football Team looks like!

Today we are closed until October 6th for overseeding. The weather so far has been very cooperative.

The 2009 Annual Pass Program will go on sale October 15th, 2008. The early incentive program will go from October 15th, 2008 until December 15th, 2008.

We will also have a webcast hosted by our own Todd Reed and myself discussing the frequently asked questions about the program.

The Annual Pass Program is on its final leg of completion. You will be able to review the program the first week of October with the Program going on Sale October 15th, 2008.

On the Anthony Kim watch, Anthony is of to Atlanta for the Tour Champion, one of 30 players left in the Fedex Cup Playoff!

Until next week, keep rolling the rock!

The dog days of summer roll on! Saturday we were surprised with a little rain, enough to create some high humidity, but it did cool things down a bit. The month of September starts the countdown to overseeding. Superintendent Scott Werline and his staff will start to slowly reduce the amount of water on the golf course and we start the drying out process leading up to the September 22 scheduled overseed. This will be the time that you will really see some added distance to your drives!

Last week we had two groups out to Trilogy. First, the La Quinta Community Center had their final Summer Tour event, with 39 players participating and staying for their awards lunch. Second, Chuck Farrell’s 2nd Annual Labor Day Golf event was played over two days, first at Indian Palms Country Club, then on Sunday here at Trilogy. Chuck had 40 players participating.

As I am writing today’s blog, the PGA Tour is finishing the second of its 4th Playoff Golf Tournaments, this one the Dueche Bank outside of Boston. Anthony Kim had a strong start with 10 under par for the first two rounds. Yesterday was not kind to Anthony has he fired a 3 over par 74 and moved from 9th place to a tie for 30th. A strong finish should help him stay in the top 30 players, securing that he will play in the final two events. Anthony will also be making is first appearance in this year’s Ryder Cup!

Great news from Golf Digest, we just received a 4 ½ out of 5 star rating from them. We moved up ½ point from last year. My hat goes off to all the employees who helped up with this award. Speaking of awards, we are still in first place on the Best of The Best contest put on by PalmSpringslife.com.

I will be rolling out our specials for September on Thursday! Look for some great deals on this great golf course!

Todd Reed and I will be hosting our first webcast later this week. We will be discussing the finer points of the 2009 Annual Pass and Coupon Program.

It is our goal to provide you with 1-2 webcasts per week. We will cover a wide variety of topics which will include golf instruction, insights into the PGA Tour, and Special Activities that we will be hosting here at Trilogy Golf Club. Our own Todd Reed is an award winning Sports Director. Todd is the first radio/television personality to win the coveted Cranny Award for both his work in television and radio. Todd will bring a fun and exciting view to the topics we cover.

I will remind you each week that the golf course - including the Azul Restaurant - will be closed from September 22nd to October 5th, 2008. The Golf Shop will be open with selected hours to handle tee times for when we re-open.

Until next week, keep rolling the rock!
