What a US Open Finish! Another major where Jim Furyk and Tiger Woods couldn’t close the deal. It just shows how hard it really is to win a major. This was Tiger’s 4th second place; he is only 15 behind Nicklaus in that department.

Anthony Kim had a great showing in his first US Open, firing the low round of the day with a 67 on Sunday. He moved from 57th to 20th. He was only one of 8 players to fire an under-par round during the tournament. Anthony has gotten the reputation on the tour as being "Mr. Sunday;” in fact, he leads the tour in final day scoring.

This past week, summer finally set in, with temperatures reaching the 100’s and 110’s. General Manager Brandon O'Neill was a guest of the local CBS affiliate to discuss how golfers should prepare for the hot temperatures when playing golf. Brandon’s tips included having proper headwear, sun screen, and drinking plenty of liquids. He suggested staying away from liquids that are diaretics like alcohol, and drinks with large amounts of caffeine. Having a wet towel at all times will help keep your body cooler. Find shaded areas as much as possible on the golf course.

If this is your first time to the Trilogy Blog, welcome! If you are returning, welcome back!

Where to start? We have been extremely busy here at Trilogy Golf Club at La Quinta. Extremely high winds on Tuesday and Wednesday created a most fabulous weekend for us. The high winds brought on cooler temperatures that were ideal for golf. Saying that we were 'busy' over the weekend would be an understatement.

The next couple of weeks will see continued busy days, including a couple of events that you don’t want to miss.

This week includes the US Open, which will include a great deal for Dads who play on Sunday. We will also have a US Open tournament; the Entry Fee is $20.00 plus green fees. You pull a Tour player name out of the hat, then you match his Sunday score with your net score to get a total. We will pay out 1/3 of the field in golf shop gift certificates. After the event, stay for our Father’s Day BBQ and watch the final round of the US Open on our 4 big flat screen televisions. Call for reservations for the BBQ, as seating is limited.

On the Anthony Kim watch, a great weekend moved Anthony up to 20th place last week in Memphis. Anthony now heads to Pittsburg to play in the US Open. Anthony is no stranger to USGA events. Anthony made it to the finals and quarter finals the past two years in the US Amatuer and the US Publinks Championship.

Until next week keep rolling that rock!

June Update from Trilogy

If this is your first time to our Blog, welcome! If you are returning, welcome back!

June has hit with humidity and warmer temperatures. We were a little spoiled in May. To keep our guests cool and comfortable, this month we move to Double Tee Starts to accommodate more golfers in the weekend mornings. Tee Times are from 7:00am to 9:00am on both 1 and 10. Twilight Tee Times start at 11:30am off 1 and 10, and super twilight starts at 4:00pm.

Upcoming events include the US Open/Father’s Day Golf Event. The rate is $70.00, which includes the tournament and your green fee. Pass holders and punchcard holders will play for $15.00. You match your net score for the day with a final round score from a player you draw out of the bowl. We will pay out 40% of the field. Payout will be in golf shop merchandise.

Azul Restaurant is also offering a Father’s Day BBQ. We will have 4 Flat screen TV’s set up to watch the final round of the US Open. The BBQ will be $20.00 per person. Book now because seating will be limited. Get out of the heat and away from the kitchen; nothing better on Father’s Day than a day of great golf, great food and a great final round of our country’s National Golf Championship.

We will be a host site for the PGA of America’s McGladrey Team Championship. The winner of this event will advance to the sectional championship with a chance to advance to the first ever national championship. Check in with the golf shop about more details about this great event.

We are offering some great specials for frequent players of Trilogy Golf Club at La Quinta. The first offer is our Monarch Card, which for $175.00, allows you and your guest to play at reduced rates thru September 23rd. When you purchase the Monarch Card you receive a $50.00 gift certificate in the Trilogy Golf Club at La Quinta Golf shop, a $25.00 gift certificate for the Azul at Trilogy Restaurant, practice balls for $5.00 per hour, a dozen Bridgestone golf balls, and your first round free. The second offer is the Bounce Back program, through you receive a coupon that allows you a 15% discount on your next round at Trilogy. The third offer is the Friday-Free-4-All. Pay any green fee here at Trilogy Golf Club at La Quinta and you can play any Friday in the Month of June for $59.00. Included for $59.00 are 2 Sleeves of Titleist NXT Golf Balls, a Trilogy Golf Club towel, and a divot repair Tool. The total package would be $108.00. It’s like playing for half price!

On the Anthony Kim watch, Anthony is starting another consecutive cuts streak! Anthony struggled last week due to a lacerated eye that became infected. It was so bad on Friday and Saturday that he couldn't see the ball or where it was landing. He was totally relying on his caddy for two days. Finally on Sunday he received some medication to help clear things up. He finished with a 67. Today he is qualifying for the US Open in Columbus, Ohio. Results will be posted on the USGA.org website.

Until next week, keep rolling that rock!
