St. Patrick’s Day and Easter all in one week! Wow, Wow wow! Needless to say we were hopping (no pun intended) this past week. On top of those two events, the Azul Restaurant put on it’s second Buckaroo Bash. Great food, great music, and fun had by all. Those of you who didn’t attend, we missed you and hope that in the future you would join us for some good old western fun.

Easter Brunch saw over 100 patrons, who enjoyed the great weather, a great spread of food, and games for the kids. The Egg Hunt was only outdone by the face paintings.

This week is just as packed with fun and excitement. Tuesday night’s spaghetti feed is filling fast, call for reservations only a few spots remain!

We will be entertaining executives from Morgan Stanley this week. They will be here on Thursday and Saturday. They will also be playing here next Tuesday. There will be up to 72 players each of the 3 days. Portland Cement will also be here on Tuesday.

The golf course continues to be busy, and in great shape. We are pleased to report that the project to fix some of the dry wells is going very well. #8 is completed, and the new sod is down. The hole looks great, and gives everyone a little bit of a reprieve for missed shots off of the tee. Holes #7 and #13 are still being worked on.

April is shaping up to be another very busy month, including the companies that I mentioned earlier in the blog. We are hosting the Women’s Golf Association of Southern California, the Gridiron Classic, and Lumpy’s Annual Scramble for Autism. The Ladies Invitational will be held on April 29th.

The Gridiron Classic is a fundraiser for a couple of charities that deal with children in need. We are anticipating a variety of celebrities and former NFL Football players.

On the Anthony Kim watch, Anthony took last week off and is scheduled to play in the Zurich New Orleans Classic. He finished in third place last year thanks to his firing the low round of the event the last day. The golf course sets up well to his eye.

I am just about to get to our website to update some exciting specials for the next week. Check out our upcoming specials for March, lots of great golf, golf balls and lunches! Don’t miss out. www.Trilogygolfclub.com/laquinta

Erin go Braugh! Ireland for everyone... well at least for today! Happy St. Patrick’s Day. We were presented with a little Irish weather, minus the rain.

Big week here at Trilogy Golf Club at La Quinta, last night we celebrated our St. Patty’s Day early with an event for the homeowners. We had over 40 people attend the event. Today is the Annual Callahan St. Patty’s Day Tournament. Homeowners Jim Callahan and Dave Bolles are entertaining over 60 of their friends from around the country, with a large majority of them coming from the land of 10,000 lakes, Minnesota.

The Ladies are starting their President’s Cup Event this week, while the Men’s Club is just finishing up. Chuck Farrell is working on his own Grand Slam, he won the Men’s Club Championship at Indian Palms and now has one at the Trilogy Golf Club at La Quinta Men’s Club Presidents Cup. His match with Bill Beeghley went down to the wire. Lee Kaplan defeated Wayne Bowman in the B Flight with the remaining C Flight winner to be determined by the Match of Rick Jorski vs Curt Blount.

Thursday, March 19th, 2008, will be our Buckaroo Bash event. There are only a few spots left, so I would suggest calling and making your reservations now. This $24.95 per person western BBQ will include a country western DJ and line dancing, plus you get to see Brandon in his western garb.

Both seatings for the Easter Brunch are almost full. Please contact Azul Restaurant to book your family’s reservation. Our seatings are at 10:00 am and 12 Noon Pricing options are Champagne and Mimosa refills $34.95, Brunch only $27.95, kids 4-12 at ½ price, Kids under 4 are free. Check out Azulattrilogy.com to see the full menu and pricing.

We will again offer a Sunday Brunch on March 30th, 2008. I would suggest getting your reservations in today because we had over 90 reservations at the last Sunday brunch.

On Friday we had a Celebrity sighting, Andrew Buckley, better known as the CFO of Dunder Mifflin Paper Company (David Wallace from the hit NBC Show The Office).

On the Anthony Kim watch, Anthony showed why he is one of the up and coming young professionals on tour. Rounds of 68-68-69-69 left him in a tie for 4th place at the European Tour Ballistine Open in Korea. Anthony only had one double bogey and one bogey in his 4 rounds of golf! He won over $100,000 in U.S. funds. He will be back on the US PGA Tour in Houston to play in the Shell Houston Open. The one thing that he is still disappointed in is his putting; subsequently his scores are not reflective of how well he is striking the ball. He is being patient with this process and looks forward to some really exciting rounds to come.

March Madness has hit, but I don’t get all the excitement this year. The tournament is never as good was when the Montana Grizzlies get their 15 or 12 seed. Two years ago they knocked off a highly touted Nevada team with an impressive win. Ok, ok... I'll be in the here and now. Being a fan of the John Wooden Bruins of yesteryear, I still have a soft spot for the UCLA Bruins. Being Southern California, we get all we want when it comes to information on the Bruins. Coach Ben Howland has this rugged, tough nosed team playing some really good defense. Defense is what wins at tournament time.

Just for laughs I am listing my bracket picks for March Madness. I would love to have comments on my picks! Check them out here.

On the Anthony Kim watch, he flew over to South Korea to participate on the European Tour (click here for an article). The 16 hour flight takes them to an island that is considered "the Hawaii of South Korea." He will be spending the week there before heading back to playing on the PGA Tour.

Finally, we caught a break in the weather last week; even though we had to fight some winds yesterday, it was the best stretch of weather that we have encountered all year! The golf course was running at full capacity between daily green fee players, homeowners, hybrid passholders and coupon holders.

Our March Madness Demo Day extravaganza was a smashing success! People had the opportunity to hit the newest in equipment from Taylormade, Titleist, Mizuno and Adams Golf. Merchandise sales were fast and furious all day long with the guests getting some of the best deals seen in the desert this year. Chef Roy and his staff provided the golfers with an outstanding barbeque at the turn to change things up a little bit. We started everyone off of the tenth tee to allow everyone an opportunity to see the vendors and the BBQ as they turned to the front nine.

The Buckaroo Bash was a great success on Thursday night. Dinner patrons were treated with some of the finest western foods this side of the Rio Grande, while being entertained by the staff doing the best line dancing since Urban Cowboy.

This week looks very promising again with the weather, and it is the final week before daylight savings time. March 9th will see us with another hour of daylight in the evenings.

Coming up this weekend will be a Sunday Brunch in the Azul Restaurant. Seating is limited so please make sure you reserve your table today. Please check out Azulattrilogy.com to see the menu items and pricing for the March 9th Sunday Brunch.

Hopefully some of you have notice the fantastic aerial photos of the golf course displayed in the golf shop and the Solaz Café. We are giving the homeowners a special $50.00 discount on these pictures. We have pictures of all 18 holes. Currently we have about 8 different holes framed. We can special order a hole if you don’t see the one you live on.

On the Anthony Kim watch, Anthony made the cut at the Honda Classic and finished 49th. The golf course took its toll on many of the players with the winning score only being 6 under par. Ernie Els won his first event since 2004.
