On a personal note, there are two big events coming up in the next couple of weeks.

First, on Wednesday July 30th, I will be celebrating my 25th Wedding Anniversary. My lovely bride Debbie, of all these years, has weathered the storm of being married to a vagabond golf professional. She has been an incredible companion and has been a superb working mother to our two children Maggie and Paull. This past year she worked extremely hard in passing both of her required tests to become a licensed stockbroker with Solis Wealth Management. No small task for anyone, let alone someone living with me and working a 50 hour a week job!

The second big event is the two year anniversary of this Trilogy Blog. It all started while I was caddying at the PGA Championship at Medina Country Club outside of Chicago. I will expound more in detail about those early days over the next few weeks. Thanks to all of you loyal readers and golfers!

Well enough about me, let’s get down to some business here at Trilogy Golf Club. General Manager Tom Catanzarite has been with us for over 30 days. Tom is a great fit for us here at Trilogy. We look forward to continually moving the dial here when it comes to customer service, merchandising and of course making each person’s time here a memorable one.

The weather has been very cooperative over the last few weeks, and today’s high is only 105. Now for those of you up north who are reading this you’ll think I’ve fallen off my chair and hit my head to make a statement that 105 is a comfortable temperature. For all of us desert inhabitants, anything under 110 is a cooling trend and the golf is very inviting!

On the Anthony Kim watch, it has been a great run for the La Quinta native. A 7th place finish at the British Open was only tarnished by the bogey, bogey, and bogey finish. He led the tournament in greens hit in regulation, but finished almost last in putting stats. Oh, the thoughts of what might have been if a few putts could have fallen. I will not take anything away from Padraig Harrington; he won the tournament in great fashion. Last week was definitely a roller coaster tournament at the Canadian Open. Anthony was tied for the first round lead with a great 65. Weather played a part in the happenings of the second day. Anthony started out with double bogey and finished the front nine with a 5 over par 40 and that dropped him to 26th place. He was able to make a birdie and an eagle before the weather finished off the day. Early Saturday morning Anthony finished birdie, birdie, and eagle to fire a 29 on the back nine (setting the back nine course record). He had seven 3’s and two 4’s on his card. The finish vaulted him into 5th place. Another great Saturday round of 64 left him one shot back of the lead and in the final group on Sunday. A poor putting day on the final round spelled disaster again for Anthony. A bogey, bogey finish left him tied for 11th. Anthony is off to the Bridgestone World Championship in Ohio this week and will be involved in events 8 of the next 10 weeks. With Tiger out of the picture Anthony is preparing to make a run at the 10 million dollar first place prize awarded to the winner of the Fed Ex Cup. Stay tuned for the excitement and drama to follow.

I sound like a broken record, but I am telling the truth - our golf course continues to be in great shape. The fairways and rough are healing up from the aeration over the past month. The greens are in great shape and the ball is rolling smoothly. We should see a great run with the conditions until we have to aerate the greens again in late August.

With the double tee start system in place we have great tee times available every morning before the heat bakes the desert floor. We have over 112 rounds of golf available between 6:30 am and 8:30 am. Check out our upcoming specials for July and August. Lots of great golf, golf balls and lunches are available! Don’t miss out. www.Trilogygolfclub.com/laquinta

Until next week, keep rolling the rock!
